About Printherapy

Printmaking to feel good

The Printherapy Story

You go to yoga to train your body and unwind your mind, you eat a healthy meal because you want to be fit and feel good. But what about your creativity and your mindset? That's when we come in.

In a world increasingly dominated by digital interactions, Printherapy offers a refreshing alternative. Our workshops provide a respite from screen fatigue, allowing participants to immerse themselves in a tactile, hands-on experience that nurtures both creativity and well-being.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, there's something for everyone at Printherapy. Our mission is simple: to inspire individuals to create meaningful artwork they can be proud of. Through our workshops, both physical and digital, we aim to empower individuals to tap into their creative potential and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them.

At Printherapy, we believe that crisis can often serve as fertile ground for new beginnings. This philosophy became evident to our founder, Gabriela Aguirrezabal, during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Suddenly finding herself with the space to revisit a long-lost hobby, Gabriela rediscovered the therapeutic art of linocutting.

Printherapy helps busy heads to find calm and joy in the here and now by providing tools that empower them to create imperfect pieces of art and reminders to feel good. Because we need to slow down to stay healthy.

The face behind Printherapy

With just a basic linocut set, Gabriela began her creative journey, carving intricate designs into linoleum and bringing them to life through the process of printing. What started as a personal endeavor soon blossomed into something more profound—an opportunity to share the therapeutic benefits of printmaking with the world.

Gabriela's prints, infused with symbolism reflecting the constraints and uncertainties of the times, struck a chord with many. Encouraged by the positive response, she embarked on a mission to make print making to feel good, accessible to all. Thus, Printherapy was born.

"I started linocut printing during lockdown. I have found comfort within creativity.  I developed a process which has helped me to come in the present and stop worrying about things that are beyond my control. I call this Printfulness, and has been key to my wellbeing during tough times. "

Drawing from her background in strategic product design and her experience in youth mental health care, Gabriela developed a series of workshops in a box. These innovative kits blend creativity with mindfulness, offering users a chance to explore the meditative art of linocutting while engaging with spoken reflections on topics such as perfectionism and mindfulness.
